We have two waiting list options. Please read about both below and decide which is best for you.

The first is a Priority Waiting List. This list is for those serious about purchasing from Heart of Texas Dachshunds specifically, and willing to wait for what they want. Our goal is to be able to meet most requests within 6 months, but your wait might could be up to a year. There is a $200 fee to join, but that fee does convert to your deposit once you have selected a puppy, and the deposit is then applied to the total purchase price of the puppy.

Answers to frequently asked questions regarding our priority waiting list:

Q- What place am I on the priority waiting list?
A- I am happy to answer this on an individual basis, but the answer is a little complicated.

Q- How long will it be before you have a puppy for me?
A- Depending on the request, I hope to have a puppy matching your interests within 6 months, but it may take up to a year.

Q- How will you contact me when you have a puppy I might be interested in?
A- On the form it asks if you would rather be texted or emailed. I will reach out via your preference.

Q- How long do I have to make a decision?
A- You will have 24 hours to communicate with me regarding your thoughts, questions, concerns. As long as we are working together to figure out the best option for you, we will not sell a puppy out from under you. Otherwise, I move on to the next in line after 24 hours of my initial contact with you.

Our traditional waiting list is more like a notification list. It is free to join and once we have puppies available for deposit, we send out an EMAIL to those on this list that have search criteria that match with our available puppies. We then give 24 hours for those to make picks and place deposits before making the puppies available to anyone else. We do only notify those on the list from the last 6 months, so if you fill out the form, and are still looking or waiting on a puppy more than 6 months later, please submit another form. It is the only way we can keep this list manageable.

Answers to frequently asked questions regarding our traditional waiting list:

Q- What place am I in on the traditional waiting list?
A- We do not hold a specific place in line for anybody on the traditional waiting list. If there are several people on the list for a smooth red female, and I have one (or more), I send out an email to each person at the same time with photos, pricing, ready to go date, etc., and from there it is "first come, first served".

Q- How long will it be before you have the puppy I am looking for?
A- I cannot answer this question for many reasons. One, I am dealing with live animals, and although I know when to expect their heat cycles, sometimes they come in early, sometimes they come in late. Second, again, I am dealing with live animals, and although I may pick breeding partners and pair them together, I cannot guarantee a breeding or pregnancy will take place. Third, I generally know what colors and patterns will be expected from each pairing, but I cannot control how many of each gender, color, pattern, and coat type are born. Generally speaking, if you are open or do not have many preferences regarding the puppy you are waiting for, then you will likely have multiple options rather quickly. For each criteria you are hoping to have met, the likelihood of having the "perfect" puppy for you gets smaller, or your wait longer. Also, the more popular your desire, the smaller the chance of me "having enough". For example, I have over a hundred people that have contacted me just in the past couple of months looking for dapples and longhair creams. If I have 3 born, and send out the email to 100 people, only three of those people will be able to place deposits and take a puppy home.

That being said, I have ZERO issues with someone being "picky". I have been when searching out a certain dog I have been looking for. You just also have to keep in mind that it may take a little longer to find that perfect match for you!

Q- Will you just call me instead of emailing me when you have a puppy for me?
A- No, I cannot. Keep in mind I have hundreds of people waiting on puppies. The waiting list is already very time consuming. I used to reach out to each person individually, in the method they preferred (phone call, text, Facebook message, e-mail, etc.), and it would take me over a week to work my way through the list. By sending out the mass emails I can work my way through the list, and allow time to consider and place deposits, in a third of that time (usually 2-3 days). Add hotdachshunds@gmail.com to your favorites or VIP email addresses and keep an eye out! We announce upcoming litters on our Facebook page, and will generally announce "waiting list notifications going out tomorrow" so that you can keep an extra eye out during that time!

Q- Am I obligated to purchase one of your puppies if I fill out the waiting list form?
A- Absolutely not! You may change your mind, find a puppy elsewhere, or have other life changing events happen between the time you fill out the list and I have a puppy for you. There is zero obligation from you, but I do love when I at least get a reply stating you are no longer interested/found a puppy/etc. so that I can take you off the list!
